  • F3-16000CL9-2GBTD + AsRock990FX Extreme9 + AMD FX 9590

    Hi,

Just joined, Ive had my Gskill Tridents for over 3 years and not had a single problem, until now. I change my M/B for my new FX9590 as the CHV was starting to show wear and tear on the chipsets Task B0 timeouts on the disk etc...broken LAN. So I bought the AsRock990fx extreme9 hoping that I could run this great ram at the same speeds as before but problems occured....

I cannot seem to get my F3-16000CL9-2GBTD past 1600Mhz on this board, Auto sets it to the XMP profile of 9-9-9-27 @1600Mhz. all I seem to be able to do is have it set to auto in the BIOS and tweak it in windows to 9-8-9-24-1T @ 1.65v can anyone help?
This ram was running like a champ on my CHV formula @ DDR3 2000 9-9-9-27 @1.65v it just will not POST at those timings, perhaps a complete manual setup is needed not just the first 4 timings? anyone offer some advice?

I set it using the ram divider to 1866 firstly then set manual timings to 9-9-9-27, I leave the rest alone (that could be the problem) but it doesnt get past POST, dr debug tells me ram error.

    Many thanks

So DDR3-1866 will not work either?

Find the highest value it can boot, post some pictures of BIOS so we can see if anything is incorrect, then we can try to raise from there.

    Thank you

      Hi

Thanks for the response, the highest it will boot is 1600Mhz it will not boot at 1866 or 2133

ill post some pics of BIOS in a few moments Ill list all the options available to me

This shows the RAM Dividers available to me....

This shows the default timings it sets at 1600, these are the only timings it will POST at above 1333Mhz

This shows you the Main Tweaker Page all set to AUTO

This shows the voltages after boot and new dram voltage of 1.65v

Once its booted i can adjust the timings a bit tighter to 9-8-9-24-33-1T @1.65

Thank you for your help with this.

      Kind Regards

      Sal.

          Well just an update,

Ive done some more tewaking and the best that I can get that is stable is 1600Mhz 8-9-8-24-1t @ 1.65v

it will now post @1866 but immediatly goes into windows auto repair mode and says windows is corrupt.. tried upping CPU-NB v and NBv managed to get to desktop only for it to crash immediatly.

Not sure how far I can go on the NBv & CPU NB v

so staying at 1600 for now until I figure this out.

UPDATE 2: Ok so tweaked a bit more managed to get it to @1600Mhz 7-7-7-21-28-1t @1.65v staying here for now

It is a bit sad, that the new board is holding you back with memory overclocking. On the other hand you might also be able to get 6-7-6-18 @ DDR3-1600 working. And that doesn't look to shabby =)

              thanks

              update Done !

If that is stable for you, then 6-7-6-18-24-1T is a reasonable compromise i think.

passed 20 loops of lynX full memory usage and is holding strong. so Its stable for me.
