Hi everyone!
I tried to search for the Gigabyte UD7, but didn't find specifics to my situation.
Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.9GHz/4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+
RAM: Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) (F3-1866C10Q-32GXL)
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 AM3+
1) I've come to the understanding (after my purchase ) that my CPU WILL NOT run 32GB of ram at 1866 on this Motherboard as It requires using 4 DIMMs and the CPU will ONLY run ram at 1866 for 2 DIMMs. It seems that I'm left with the choice of running 16GB at 1866 or 32 GB at 1600. Am I correct so far?
Am I making the correct choice in running 32GB at 1600 instead of 16GB at 1866? (and in purchasing Windows 7 ultimate in order to even use 32 GB)
2) The Hardware combination is resulting in a preset speed for the ram of 1333. I'd like to be able to boost it to at least 1600. I'm not sure exactly which settings to use in the BIOS. I'm not new to computers or hardware, I'm comfortable navigating the BIOS, but I'm new to this type of tuning and want to be sure not to do any damage.
Thanks ahead of time for any replies!
