  • Ripjaws V Ryzen B350 Compatibility Problem

I ordered a 16GB kit of G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 RAM (SKU: F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) and it seems I got Hynix ICs, not Samsung. It turns out this particular kit uses both Samsung and Hynix, which I didn't know at the time of ordering. I lost that little game of Ryzen RAM Roulette (tm) and got Hynix. I'm getting my information from this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1627555/r...lection-thread.

This is the JEDEC info for my RAM: https://www.pic-upload.de/view-33034...VKB-2.png.html

The motherboard I'm using is the ASRock AB350M Pro4. Here's their RAM QVL: http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350M%...dex.asp#Memory

Granted, my kit isn't on their QVL (other kits are not listed but which still work at 2666/2933), but I was given to understand any Samsung B-die would clock to 3200MHz on Ryzen, while E-die would clock to 2933.

I was also given to understand Hynix M-die would clock to 2666. My G.Skill kit won't clock past 2133 at any voltage or with any timings. I only have one XMP profile, and that's for 2400MHz, which also won't boot. I don't see any D.O.C.P. options in the BIOS of this board, or any way to adjust SoC voltage or RAM Vboot or anything like that.

So...what do? I'm not going to tolerate a 3200MHz kit I paid good money for to be stuck at 2133 at poor timings. I'd read AGESA updates and BIOS updates had improved RAM compatibility, but they don't seem to have done anything.

Should I just sell the RAM? Would G.Skill exchange it for something compatible with Ryzen, like the FlareX or Fortis?

    Thanks.

Send it back to the vendor and exchange for a different model. Here is the G.Skill QVL for that motherboard:

Any one of these can work great.

Alright, let's hope Newegg will entertain my notion of exchanging this kit for another. Ryzen-specific kits are already generally more expensive than "regular" DDR4 kits.

        Hi,

I have found these RAMs for a good price. At least will they work as 2133 Mhz on my Asus B350 Plus?
