Those information could helpfully solve this issue.
I haven't noticed any problems on booting, but I had noticed strange SMART messages when I check the smart parameters on Linux:

I have a Dell M1730 (basic specs here), with latest A10 BIOS. Linux version is stock Ubuntu 10.04 with all latest updates.

BTW - I saw the same messages with the original firmware on the drive. That was originally listed as 30xxxx, something a little weird, but it was a Linux listing so I assume it was the 2.0 listed here for Phoenix Pro.

That suggests it could be an issue with the linux smartctl command, or else the issue was already there and has now become apparent to other users.

        Sorry for the confusion.
About the firmware version, we modify it to 2.1 from previous version 3XXXXXXX.
I think that would be much simple to manage.

            Ranxerox,
            the Sticky thread: http://gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=5721
But we also modify the firmware version to meaningful "2.0" relative to "2.1".

The issue has already reported to SandForce, i believe they are resolving it.
I hope they could fix this problem in the next firmware version.

so what should we do for now?

                      1. Wait for new firmware?
but when will it be published here?

                      2. Use the SSD with FW 2.0?
what about the fixes to FW 2.1 anything extremely important?
it does not mean that smart is all fine just because the ahci bios does not report it

                      3. Use the SSD with FW 2.1?
Smart Command Failure will cause ahci bios to hang for 5 seconds
is my data safe on the drive?

Far be it for me to take data integrity concerns lightly, but I think you may be overblowing the issue. I have this "error" reported too. I'm not overly concerned. Of course, I make regular backups and run filesystem integrity checks too.

Think of it this way...what if SMART did not exist? Wasn't too long ago that we had no SMART, and we managed to store data on the drives without too many problems anyways. This problem is because SMART - as implemented in the bios of our specific PC's - and the firmware not communicating properly - in no way does that imply that the drive's data integrity is in question.

If you took your drive and connected it to a different PC/mobo - you wouldn't get the error message! Therefore, it's not the drive. If most motherboards/bioses don't generate the error message w/ this firmware - what does that tell you?

Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the next f/w release. Speaking for myself only (not giving advice to you or anyone else, so don't blame me if you have data problems), but in this case I would not use the lower version of the firmware to get rid of the error message (and the few seconds extra wait at boot). Not without first knowing EXACTLY what the differences are between 2.0 and 2.1. I'll stick with the latest version.

I think the 5 seconds is waiting for response from the SSD for some SMART command.
Your data should be safe, but for precaution i recommand users backup periodically, not only for SSD but also HDD.

                                Wow!
                                Looks a deluxe PC.
But your RAM is 2 kits of G.Skill-F3-16000CL9T 6GBTD, right ?
if you want to use all 6 dimms of your GA-X58A-UD7, i can't guarantee that combination could work in 6 dimm 12GB.
we have some products tested and are compatible with GA-X58A-UD7 in 6 dimm kit:
                                F3-16000CL8T2-24GBTDD (4Gx6)
                                F3-12800CL9T2-24GBRL (4Gx6)
                                F3-12800CL7T2-24GBTDD (4Gx6)

or if you just want 12GB of RAM i recoomand these produts
                                F3-16000CL8T-12GBTDD (4Gx3)
                                F3-16000CL9T-12GBTDD (4Gx3)
                                F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL (4Gx3)
