  • Use HDDerese to secure erase SSD

    I show how to do secure erase Phoenix SSD by HDDerase.

    Preparation:
    a. A bootable USB pendrive.
    b. HDDerase
    c. Backup data on your SSD and delete all partiton on it.

    Procedure:

    1. Copy HDDerase.exe to root of your bootable USB pendrive.
    2. Set SATA as lagacy IDE mode and USB pendrive as first boot device.
    it could set in BIOS like this:
    set IDE


    or



    set USB boot



    3.Boot from your bootable USB pendrive, keyin "hdderase" and press enter.
    You will sse the following, keyin "y" and press enter.

    4.Press any key to continue


    5.Keyin "y" and press enter



    6.Keyin "y" and press enter



    7.Keyin the port No. your SSD detected, Here it is "p1"

      8.Without accident, your will see the picture and keyin "y" then press enter.



      9.Keyin "1" to execute secure erase



      10. keyin "y" to execute.



      11. if security erase finished, you will see the completly message



      Then your SSD would recover its performance and it would work fine for you.

      If you have any experiences to share with other users, i will appreciate your help.

        hi vaca, nice post

        yesterday I read the topic of sam350 because i have the same problem, and using this HDerase I need to install again W7?

        with ATTO Disk benchmark I get this speeds



        Its normal, isnt? but with AS SSD and crystal I get the same speed that sam350


        edit: I update for the new firmware 2.1

          Hi Konig,
          Because before you run HDD erase to secure erase your SSD, you have to delete all partition on your SSD. So you must backup OS or data on SSD first, then recover those data afte secure erase.
          It would save much time that recover your data from backup copy instead of re-installing and setting your windows7 again.

              Hi Konig,
              If your OS is windows 7, there is a official guide to back up your files.
              EASEUS Todo Backup is an free backup tool, you can try it too.

                im using W7, I will try right now your link,

                but I have another question, after I erase the SSD, will clean everything including SO installed right? So how I will install the SO backup ? I need to install again W7 and open the backup?

                  The Backup utililty would have function to make some bootable media that you can boot from it and proceed recover. please find the function in the tool you choose and read the guide carefully.
                  PS. remember to save your back up file in other storage.

                    hi vaca,

                    I already save the backup in other storage, I use the program that W7 have, that link you send with the video from microsoft 5***** very simple

                    edit:

                    vaca on your Screen 9, I have another message below, saying something link this" your drive is frozen" and doesnt show the option "Enter 1" I only have" Enter C" and "Enter E"

                    whats happen?

                    excuse the inconvenience, I am being very annoying

                            I tried using HDDerase with a floppy disk but it never fully loads up...I get the first few screens but it never shows the hard drive selection screen...do all motherboards support it?
