Can give it a try...also might look at :

    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthrea...t=11874&page=2

Canadiansniper had some luck with an FX by raising the tRAS (the 24 in your 8-8-8-24 timings), not sure if it will help here (I don't have any AMD systems to play with) but it might be worth a try at the higher freq, make sure you make a record of all your current settings if you try so you have fallback

After several CMOS jumper exercises I ended up at 1600 CL7-8-8-24-1T fully stable at auto voltage of 1.6V.

I was running CL8-8-8-24-2T at 1.5V before deciding to go for more. The motherboard or CPU was really weird about changing some settings.

Here are the specs of my PC:
          4x8GB G.SKILL Ares 1866
          AMD FX-8350 CPU
          Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Mobo
          XFX 1050watt PSU
Two MSI Radeon HD 7950 in Crossfire
          180gb SSD and a 500gb HDD
          Windows 8 64bit

          Here is my problem:
I cannot get the memory to run at 1866. It is at 1333. I have tried both methods for FX processors listed here in this forum.

          Method 1 and its results:
This is the quick method, I set it, I restart, and I am given a black screen saying that the OC was unstable and that my bios will be reverted to the last known stable settings.

          Method 2 and its results:
I tried and played (.05 and .1 increase) around with the voltage of the CPU memory controller, with no luck. I have to reset the CMOS each time when doing this method.

Noticed my memory has a higher voltage than normal right now, its at 1.6v if I remember correctly.

TLDR: I tried both methods with no luck, what are your thoughts?

PS: I would be happy with 1600, but happier with 1866.

Couple of things first, do you have the single 4x8GB set or is this two sets of 2x8GB? Second would be that the 8350 is only rated up to 1 stick per channel at 1866. Id try initially to go 1600 at 9-10-9-30, 1.5 or 1.55 with the CPU/NB at about 1.3 and the CR at 2T.....then if you can get that stable try heading up to 1866.

This is 2 kits of 2x8GB, so I am told it is npt guaranteed to work together. I'm going to try for 1600 today, what you're saying about the 8350 is that it isn't supposed to be able to support 32GB of 1866? So it comes as no surprise that it doesn't work then hah!
              Thanks for the support Tman!

You should be able to get 32gb @ 1600...but it is a real shame that a lot of us miss the small print in ram support!

It's fine, I got all the RAM for $110 total, so it was a steal either way!

that is a steal....my motherboard will only take 16gb so I am maxed out now...even though I have two empty slots...I do wonder what would happen if I put more RAM in

Start with 1600mhz stock timings (what the 1866 timings are on the package) up CPU/NB +0.5V and DRAM +0.5V and see how you go.

                            1600 good to go

                            So, I tried 1.55V, 1600mhz, 9-10-9-30. CR at 2T CPU/NB at 1.13.
It booted up and didn't kick me out of windows. Need to stress test :3

                            Let's see how it goes!

                            Edit: Prime95 is running.

An Update after about an hour

I'm still here How long should I run the Prime95 torture test?
Also, if this passes is there a possibility of running for 1866?
And finally, you said put CPU/NB at 1.3, is this actually supposed to mean 1.13, but overclockers are cool so they say 1.3?
