  • ASUS M5A97, AMD 8120 CPU and F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL

I am a complete novice at BIOS. Here is my setup, ASUS M5A97, AMD 8120 CPU and F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL. I would like to get the full 1866 out of the memory... Is it possible and how (please be explicit)? Would I be better off going with another memory or does the issue lie in the board/processor combo? would I be better off returning the memory and getting F3-17000CL11D-8GBSR for the 2133 speed for $5 more (didn't see this when I was shopping originally)?

You just need proper settings in BIOS.

First, set DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1866

    DRAM Timings tCL 9 - tRCD 10 - tRP 9 - tRAS 28

    DRAM Voltage 1.50V

    CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V

Once that is complete, save, exit, and you should be ready to go.

    Thank you
