  • AMD trim command support via AHCI driver?

    I have been reading all over the place trying to find out if AMD AHCI drivers support trim command in window 7 64 bit. I think they do. I just downloaded it. Going to give it a try.

    I was under the impression that Windows 7 supported trim command by itself. Do I need the AMD AHCI driver for it to work?

    The newest driver is; AHCI for Windows 7 version 10.11

    Do any other AMD system users here have info, insight, opinions, etc? And of course I would appreciate Gskill to give their official stance on the subject.

    Thanks!

      According to Crystal Disk Info TRIM is supported by my AMD chipset.

        I almost forgot, my motherboard is a MSI 870A Fuzion. It uses the AMD 770 chipset.

          Thanks. We have almost the same drive. Maybe yours is the Pro version? Anyways, I notice mine has about 170 hours of use and yours has 450. I also notice some of your scores are lower than mine which makes me wonder if trim is doing it's job correctly. Or maybe it has to do with the firmware version?

          Motherboard is K9A2 Platinum, 790fx chipset.

          Edit;

          Now I am really confused. When I downloaded the AMD AHCI installer package from AMD and ran it, it went through it's routine real quick and then gave the message that all my drivers are up to date. I had recently updated to the most recent video card drivers. Would the AHCI drivers be included with the video card drivers?

          The other thing that has me wondering is this;

          Do I even have the darn AHCI driver installed?

            I haven't installed anything except what's on the motherboard driver disk and AMD 10.10 video drivers and I have the exact Serial ATA Controller Properties screen you show, so I'm assuming the ACHI driver is included with the video drivers.

            I have the Phoenix Pro 120 SSD.

              I'm not sure why I have a GOOD 82%, but testing my speed now with what I had when the drive was new with Crystal Disk Mark I'm seeing a very small difference in speeds. It may be the firmware giving the 82%.
