  • Ambitions of DDR4-3600 on X370 Taichi...

    I have a ddr4-3200 TridentZ CL14 kit from G.Skill which I'm trying to boost to ddr4-3600 on thier latest 2.36 beta BIOS. This is the AGESA 1.0.0.6 version. I have all subtimings handy for the stable 3200 speeds. No matter how loose I make the timings, the kit won't work with 2 sticks plugged in to A2 and B2 slots as suggested. I managed to get in to Windows at 3600 Mhz, but opening a game and even sometimes running a benchmark crashes the system or the application. Hopefully some of you had success with my kit on an AM4 system, and if so please tell me what you had to do to get there. Thanks in advance.

    CPU LLC Level 3 and SoC LLC Level 4 has helped for some people.

      @gskill tech, Thanks for your response. on this AsRock motherboard, the LLC tiers are reversed versus the more popular ASUS LLCs. If that's the case, i'll give it a shot. more specifically, I abandoned the ddr4-3600 idea and just stuck with the ddr4-3200 spec (what my kit is rated for). I took it for granted that because they are samsung b-dies they'd overclock further. I also haven't the chance to test it on other Ryzen CPUs to see if IMC is the culprit. I had some success, with really loose timings on ddr4-3333.

        They will overclock further no problem. However like you mentioned the IMC and also the board have to be capable to run those higher memory frequencies as well. Most AM4 boards still struggle with the new memory ratios that were unlocked by AGESA 1.0.0.6. Jugding from the ASUS C6H already being able to run 2x8GB @ DDR4-3600, there should still be headroom left, to improve memory support for other models.

          I have been able to get it to 3600, but very unstable ie. won't restart without F9 boot loop on x370 taichi, or cold boot to F9. I've even tried disabling my gskill RGB and asrock's RGB software, which made it seemingly work when I gave the 3600 OC another try but it eventually went back to F9 Loop. I'm afraid the RGB function could be interfering with my overclock stability.. I was able to turn off the LEDs with the software before uninstall, but after the F9 boot loop the RGB returned to default (random colors)

          edit: version 2.4 bios (AGESA 1.0.0.6), will update sig

            I don't think they are reversed. According to the diagram there. level 1 is the biggest increase, while level 5 (default) is the smallest one. Or you mean that on Asus it's the other way around?
