  • Sniper giving me problems.

I have a 120GB sniper and is was going BSOD on waking from sleep. I installed F/W 4.0 and all was well for a couple of months. Now my system started BSOD within a couple of minutes after startup every time. I decided to reinstall windows as everything was fine from boot CDs.

First it aborted install in the middle of everything and wouldn't recover. I was afk when it happened. But is was at the beginning of step 2.

I try to reinstall once again and watch it all. I delete all partitions and clock next so it creates all the right partitions and it sits at 0% for extracting files for a long time. Then it advances to 1%, but 2% took over a full minute. This continued until 12% when I aborted install.

I then pull the sniper and put it on my gaming rig and use, "Computer Management" to delete the partitions and tell it quick format so I could run scandisk. Quick format took over 5 minutes.

scandisk reported no errors after a few seconds.

Is there a diagnosis utility to check my snipers for errors?

    Hi MarkJohnson,

Actually this SSD had problem with sleep mode.
We have already informed Sand Force.
You can use "magic parted" tool to secure erase this SSD then reinstall Windows again.
If BSOD still occurs, please RMA it.

Well, it now won't boot up at all. AHCI just waits forever for it to clear and it never does it. I guess I'll RMA it tomorrow. Is there a certain channel to do this RMA or just call?

      Thanks for your help.

Ah ha! I out smarted the machine.

I unplugged only the SATA cable to the SSD, then booted GParted in AHCI mode, and just after the BIOS cleared the AHCI detection I plugged in the SATA cable to the SSD and voila!, Gparted found it just fine and recovered the SSD.

          All is working well now.

          Thanks for your help.
