How can Mac users update their firmware without installing bootcamp? Does G.Skill have any plans for accommodating us soon? Bootable .iso download?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

After I installed Firmware 3.1 I?ve got a message after the boot of a Windows root/ system 32/ hall.dll missing. I?ve managed to contour the problem and get into my win 7 64 bits desktop to run bench32 benchmark and had a small loss in performance.

I must recommend G.Skill to have a better support to their nice products which I?m fan of, but if you release firmwares without a proper manual guidance to how to use it, it would be worse than the expected improvements.

wow that sounds lke win7 thinking t needed to perform extra nterpretations and now it doesn't knw why it doesn't think it needs to do them any longer.

              DIPM support can be configured

              PFLock behavior can be configured
How do I config those things?

After flashing 3.1, there is a performance drop compare to 2.1.

                Hi

because firmware is made by Sandforce, we don't have any authority to change it.

but we know there are lots of MAC's user, we have already inform them this problem.

we hope they can figure it out as soon as possible.

sorry for making you inconvenience about our support.
what kind of manual guidance do you want to know.

                    Hi

I think up or down 10 is acceptable range of error.
But if you got totally different between 2.1 and 3.1.
                    please let me know

Blue Screen during the firmware update

                      Hi.

I had a couple of problems with this new update, which I managed to solve eventually.

First, I couldn't update the firmware at all. The reason, I think, has to do with the fact that I use an AMD board and AMD ACHI driver. With the AMD driver, the update said that it couldn't download the firmware update.

For no reason, I tried to update using the ms driver that comes with Windows 7 and what do you know, the update seemed to go through. At the end of the update, the dreadful bluescreen popped up, and my system could not recognize my SSD Phoenix PRo 60G. Even using the insall disc, I could not repair the system. Even my bios did not see my SSD.

Scratching my head, I used my last resort, I flushed my bios, defaulting my system. After several attempts of booting, I finally managed to boot using SSd where my OS resides.

The funny thing, though, is that my SSD has been updated to the firmware 3.1. I cannot figure out what has happened.... Updating .... blue screen .... failure to recongize my SSD both by OS and Bios.

Well, anyhow, I am happy now. Even though I didn't run a diagnostic, I think my system seems to respond snappier than before.

If there is anyone with AMD system, be aware of this potential problem. Well, perhpas, it is just my system that behaved that way. I don't know.

                        Thank you for the reply.

                        Here it goes:

? Improved latency (presume that is automatic)
? DIPM support can be configured ( where and how)
? Read/Write Buffer support can be configured ( where and how)
? Read/Write Long support can be configured ( where and how)
? ATA Security support can be configured ( where and how)
? PFLock behavior can be configured ( where and how)
? ATA Sanitize Feature Set support (presume that is automatic)
? Complete SMART Attribute Flexibility (could you explain better)
? Configuration update appendix (presume that is automatic)

Looking forward for these configurations management.

                        Thanks,

How to update firmware using linux ?

It is a pitty that there is no OS independant firmware updater and it is a shame that linux users have to install windows, backup everything, wipe the drive, format it with something windows recognizes ... and after installing the firmware install linux a-new

The drive itself (Phoenix Pro) is great. Using ubuntu 10.10, boottime is < 12 sec. and every application starts instantanious.
