  • Big Failure - Did I use the Correct Memory?

    Hi GSkill Tech,

I built my wife a new PC for Christmas. It worked great for about a week and then Win10 started acting up. It finally got to the point that I could not even reinstall windows.

I then tried memtest86 which has shown over a million errors in 4 passes!

Before I RMA and return it I thought it would be good to confirm that the memory I used is proper for my application. It is not on the GSkrill list for my motherboard nor is it on the MSI list of my motherboard. However it seemed to meet all the required specs at the time of purchase as I understood them. She is only using it for office type applications and no overclocking.

    Memory used: 1 stick (8GB) DDR4 F4-2400C15S-8GNT http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15s-8gnt

    Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VD https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B250.../Specification

CPU: Intel KabyLake Pentium G4560 https://ark.intel.com/products/97143...Cache-3_50-GHz

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

    Cheers,
    Rod

Do you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard?

If you only have one module, it will be more tricky to troubleshoot. If you do not have another module to test with, send the memory in for RMA exchange to see if you get a different result.

      Hi GSKILL TECH,

I only have the one RAM stick so I have just submitted a RMA.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply and I wish you a very Happy New Year.

      Cheers,
      Rod
