  • Is my ram corrupted?

I've already sent an RMA request after trying all the troubleshooting things suggested, trying to reinstall either available versions of the G.Skill software, Asus Aura software, switching the ram's DIMM slots, it's just one stick that doesn't change LEDs at all, meanwhile the other one cycles through a rainbow and changes pattern through the software.

The LEDs were working fine yesterday, but after a restart, one of them was just stuck half-lit on 3 dim colours, and I can't change them on that particular stick no matter what I've tried.

I read a little bit more into this today, and people suggested that the SPD data might be corrupted, which leads me to believe that the software is not seeing this ram as it's supposed to, however, functionally, the RAM still comes up to 2x8gb DDR4, and it works fine, apart from the LEDs.

I'm going to go ahead with the RMA, but people have said that flashing the ram with Thaiphoon burner with the original SPD would fix it, but I am reluctant to try as it seems as if it may void the warranty. If this is the case, and a lot of people seem to be having the same issue

Flashing the SPD I'm sure will void warranty but reading it shouldn't and will be enough to do a CRC check on the free version of typhoon...

I did this with mine when it was playing up and got CRC OK. The other thread on here about ASUS aura solved things.

I got to check both sticks, I also ended up with CRC OK on both...

Asus Aura opens, but the non-responsive stick remains non-responsive, and it only opens once after install, then it just breaks every time I try to open it afterwards

The stick's LEDs are still stuck half lit on the same 3 colours.

Have you got any other apps running that access the SMBus?

Make sure nothing like CPUZ, afterburner, HWi etc. running.

Seems strange theyCRC ok but still issues.

Made sure everything was closed, and that all lighting software was uninstalled. At this point, I'm thinking that the actual LEDs are broken, since I was pretty sure this was going to be the issue. I might try the Asus Aura software a 4th time tomorrow, I was sure I'd wait for all the power to drain from the system too before turning on with restarts.

It's always just that one stick with that serial number that is stuck on those three colours

At least there's actually someone I can talk about the issue with though, still haven't received a response for my RMA request.

same as nuke here. have not found a solution. think the one stick is physically damaged.

              Hi nuke and avioni,
I had the same problem, ended up doing an RMA through the shop where I bought the sticks. Got a new Kit, everything working fine. I changed the colour to what I want it to be like and it will stay like this until the GSkill Software is out of beta! Not touching it again until then.

I'm glad there are other people that are having the exact same problem as me, I might try to return via Amazon instead, apparently they accept returns after 30 days for faulty products
