  • Memory Timings on Ryzen 1700/ MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon

I have a kit of Gkill ripjawsV 3200mhz memory that came out of my z170 system...

That kit I have is F4-3200C16D-16GVK-- timings of 16-16-16-36

The msi b350 gaming pro carbon memory Qvl list has
    gskill ripjawsV-F4-3200C16D-16GVKB timings of 16-18-18-38
    being acceptable at 3200mhz..

Can I just change timings on the kit I currently have (the first kit I listed) to achieve the same settings, or will it not work?

    system will be
    Ryzen 1700
    MSI b350 gaming pro carbon
16gig of applicable gskill memory, hopefully what I have (F4-3200C16D-16GVK) will work at intended frequency
    Samsung 950evo m.2 250gig
    gtx1080

It can work, but may not run at full speed. Make sure to have the latest BIOS for the motherboard.

Modules should be installed in the same color slots furthest away from the CPU.

If you have any problem, test one at a time to see if one performs differently than the other.

With XMP enabled, lower DRAM Frequency until the system can boot properly. This will give us a better idea of what may be going on.

I just got the Ryzen 1700 system together last night..

My first boot the memory would not post faster than 2133mhz..

First thing I did was to update the bios for the MSI b350 gaming pro carbon to beta bios version 1.51..

After I updated the bios, the G.Skill ddr4-3200 F4-3200C16D-16GVK (16-16-16-36) posted fine at 3200mhz using axmp profile.. I'm glad it did, I caught this memory on sale for $114...

Great to hear, DDR4-3200 is plenty fast for that motherboard. Especially at that price, it was a steal.
