  • Having trouble getting my 3200Mhz kit to post on anything above 2133mhz.

    I am using a R7 1700 on a ASRock X370 Taichi
Here is the kit of your ram i bought.
    Model: F4-3200C16D-16GVKB

I have been testing my system at total stock without changing anything and it works great, but i finished that testing and have been trying to get my 3200Mhz kit of ram to run faster, i would love to get 3200,but it won't even post at 2400mhz.

I have tried XMP,and i tried putting it in myself, but every speed and and other settings i tried wound not post, only the base 2133Mhz. i am on the newest bios.

I know this kit is not on the QVL last i checked, but i hoped to get at least 2666 or even 2400.

Can you guys please help me find out what is wrong?

Do you have the latest BIOS? These limitations can happen when using RAM not on the G.Skill QVL and that is why we advise against it.

I am using the latest bios.

I thought it would not be as much of a problem, because every other time i have bought ram i never checked the QVL list, and they had always worked at posted speeds

But i guess that is my fault.

I had hoped to get something over 2133mhz until the bios got better...

EDIT:Should i just return it and get something else? Even though from some looking i won't be able to get gskill and get the speeds i want...

This is AMD's first generation, so there is no previous ground work laid for compatibility. They are definitely working on it and should see a major update by next month.

But in general, it is always best to follow G.Skill QVL for guaranteed results.

Exchange for one of these and it will work much better:

I currently can't afford the $50-$60 that those cost over what i paid for my current ram.

I paid about $120 for my current ram,and money has gotten tight after i built my new system.

Just watch out for sales. Those linked ram kits are Intel-tested, but with XMP enabled those timings should work, generally. Those kits come with the Samsung B-Die ICs and should work. I got these working with my x370 taichi https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-410-_-Product
