  • Ripjaws DDR4 2400mhz showing 2133mhz??

    Hello there,

So i've got a problem which i've seen before on some forums but i never found a solution to it.

I got 8 slots x 4GB of RAM so 32GB of RAM DDR4 but it is showing 2133mhz while it is 2400mhz, how can i turn it up to it's default? I tried to turn it up from EasyTune but it doesn't work. I remember i read from the forum the same problem for this guy and that he had probably got to do it from BIOS, the thing is that i have no idea how to do it! And i was wondering if you could also explain me how to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version first, that would be cool...

If i could get it work i was thinking in the near future of replacing this ram with a more powerful one ... like 2800 or so but i would like to know if i can get this to work first, and also im not sure how i could sell this ram for get a new one, as i need more RAM aswell...

    My specs are (nothing overclocked);

    i7-5960x
    G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR4-2400mhz [(F4-2400C15Q-16GRK)x2]
    Gigabyte x99 UD4

    Let me know...

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

In BIOS there is option for Memory Frequency, change it to DDR4-2400

In the future, if you need 64GB or 128GB, make sure to purchase a single kit of RAM instead of two separate kits. Some times it can cause problems.

Let me know how it goes.

      Thanks for you reply man,

It was more easy than i though, i guess... the XMP was disabled, i've changed it to Profile 1 and it showed the 2400mhz, then i saved and quit from BIOS.

However i now double-checked from hardware monitor from appcenter and it's showing DDR 2130mhz (around 2133 howeva) also from easytune appcenter it's still showing 2133mhz. So i haven't done it right? How do i know if it's actually going at 2400Mhz?

Btw regarding the problems... i haven't found any so far... so for getting 64 RAM you suggest me to get a 8x8 kit? I found this, it is a 8x8 but i think it comes from the same kit. http://www.amazon.it/G-Skill-F4-2400...jaws+ddr4+64gb

However 64GB would suceed and i don't think my motherboard can go over 64GB if i remember well... not sure.

The fact is that i'm not sure i would be able to sell these 2 kits of 16GB now... i really don't want to waste these two kits...

      Let me know...

      Thank you,
      Matt

EDIT: Just restarted PC and it failed to boot, i had to switch XMP back to disabled... what did i do wrong? -.-
Also after i entered BIOS my second monitor went all dark and it's still dark now, dunno what happened since then... maybe just a coincidence.

Use a software like CPU-Z. Memory tab should show ~1200MHz.

Don't use XMP, you should use manual settings since you are using two separate kits

I do have CPU-Z and it's showing around 1068MHz to the Memory...

So if i don't have to do it from XMP how i do it from BIOS? I tried everything from BIOS but it didn't work, the PC wont boot... what do i have to do exactly?
Maybe this is the problem of having 2 separated Kits?
Because im going to buy a 8x8 kit but if it doesn't work for 2400 then it's useless, if you assure me it will work on a single kit then i would probably buy 2400MHz or more...

I hope you don't give up on me though

          Thanks,
          Matt

Boost the DRAM Voltage and see if it helps.

Also, make sure each kit is installed in the same color slots.

I tried manually, setting the DRAM Voltage to 1.24 and also automatically, setting it to "High" voltage... still nothing, it just doesn't boot.
I think each kit of RAM is in each left and right from the CPU... Like Kit 1 left slots from CPU and Kit 2 right slots from CPU... Is that the problem then?

              Thanks.

Each kit should be in the same color slots.

                A1 B1 C1 D1

                then

                A2 B2 C2 D2
