  • Question on malfunctioning memory kit

There are three years ago I purchased a F3-17000CL11Q2-32GBZL kit (8x4 GB sticks) here in Spain. Recently four of the sticks have become unusable, the motherboard does not boot up with any of them installed (asustek ZPAD8 Q code 67) and the sticks get very hot in just one minute. The board boots up just fine with the other four sticks in any of the memory slots tested with the faulty sticks.

My question is to know whether I have any right to solicit a RMA in these modules. Since it is over the two years guarantee offered by the retailer (Spanish law) it refuses to any action.

Thanks in advance for your support

Do not worry, there still is G.SKILLs lifetime warranty thats covering your memory:
G.SKILL Memory and MicroSD products carry a lifetime warranty, which guarantees the products to operate, as specified by its datasheet, in the operating environment for which they were intended, for the life of the product or extent of the warranty. G.SKILL will, at its option, either repair or replace any part of its products that prove defective by reason of improper workmanship or materials. If G.SKILL is unable to repair or replace the product, G.SKILL will exchange with another product similar in functionality to the product under warranty.

Thanks for the info, I wasn´t sure.

Should I RMA the whole kit or can I keep the sticks still working? This way I would not have to switch off the PC.

You will need to send the entire kit because they are a matched set.

This ensures you do not encounter any further issues.

Finally I found the time to stop the machine and take out the four working modules to get the whole kit and I'm in the process of getting the RMA form filled in. However, I'm now blocked at the form page, it tells me that there is some field not correctly filled in but doesn't say which one and I can't identify it.

I have introduced the 8 serial numbers of the modules separated by comas as indicated and apart from that one, the rest of fields are quite straightforward so I'm puzzled.

          Any help is greatly appreciated,
