Will OS X 10.6.4 ruin my Phoenix Pro SSD?

Since the OS doesn't support TRIM, will it eventually ruin the drive? When I upgrade to Lion with TRIM support, will the drive return to a performance state equivalent to a TRIM supported OS (like W7)?

the internal garbage collection on Sandforce-based SSD's is a supposedly pretty good alternative/workaround for the lack of native TRIM on OS X systems at the moment. haven't personally tried, but have read that doing a proper wipe of the SSD should restore to near stock performance.
