  • Phoenix Pro Series 60 GB and Windows XP 64 Bit

    Hi All,

This is my first post and I wanted to thank everyone in advance for the support.

My Phoenix pro 60 gb ssd is showing up tomorrow and I was wondering how I would go about keeping it trimmed in Windows XP 64 bit.

I see that the Falcons can use Wiper.exe but I haven't seen anything regarding the Phoenix. Please let me know what I can do. I'm very comfortable with windows XP and I really want to stick with it.

    Thanks!

    Stephen

    You need partition alignment
    Steps
    1. Borrow a Win7 system or Win7 install DVD with your friend
    2. Use Win7 disk management or Win7 install DVD to create partitions and format
    3. Instal your WinXp system and happy end

Hi Wales, Thanks for your quick reply.

So, all I need to do is create a partition and format with a windows 7 install DVD, reboot and install windows XP 64 bit? Will this automatically trim itself or do I need to use wiper.exe?

I'm a bit confused on how to maintain it after step 3.

      Thanks,

      Stephen

Windows xp don't support TRIM natively ... but you can use certain tools manually (or schedule) to send the trim command for all currently deleted files.
I think it's better to install Windows 7 instead xp to support TRIM.

Right now WinXP not support trim command ,so use win7 creat partition just to extend SSD service life.
Use WinXP system or Trim must make one's choice.

Hey Roylion, which tools manually can I use to send the trim command for all currently deleted files? This would be super appreciated.

Can any G-skills moderator chime in on which tools I can use to trim on windows xp? I don't mind running it once a week manually.

            Thanks!

Other manufacturers like intel, ocz provides some tools or toolbox to optimize their own disks ...
I can't tell you if the "wiper.exe" utility or other legacy tool will run correctly on phoenix pro. i think that no for wiper.exe.
it's better for you to wait for some answer or some tips from Gskill support.

if the "backup/clean disk/restore data" method is possible for you. it's a good choice
