  • Trident Z RGB with Rampage V Extreme and 5930k?

Hey all, searched quite a bit for a straight answer on this but couldn't find one.

    I have an Asus Rampage V Extreme/U3.1 (the original, not the edition 10) and a Haswell-E 5930k.

G.Skill's QVL page for Trident Z RGB RAM shows compatibility with this board, but in parenthesis it says (Broadwell-E CPU Only.)

So what exactly does this mean? Will Trident Z RGB RAM not light up at all with this board/CPU combo? Will it light up, but just not be controllable? Will it probably work just fine, but it's just not 100% guaranteed to be stable?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time.

The product QVL page is reference for if the motherboard with the proper CPU can support the frequency speed. The Haswell-E processor will unlikely support 3200MHz, so you might want to consider 2400MHz kits.

In regards to Rampage V Extreme, please check if there's a "SPD Write Enable" option in BIOS, under the "Memory Timing" menu. That option is BIOS is what enables lighting control on ASUS X99 platforms.
