  • G.Skill Trident F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD + Asrock 890GX Extreme3 BIOS settings?

    Hi,

What should I specify in the BIOS to run the ddr3 memory optimally?

Model of the motherboard: Asrock 890GX Extreme3
Model of the memory: G.Skill Trident F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD
Model of the CPU: Athlon II x3 440

    Thanks in advance!

Set DDR3-1600 frequency with timings of 8-8-8-24 2T.

Increase CPU/NB voltage to 1.2V and set DRAM voltage to 1.65V.

If you have a C2 revision of the CPU, you might not be able to run the memory at 1600, but you can always ttry.

Done setting the timings to 8-8-8-24 2T @1600 MHz, 1.603V.

      1) Is the 1.603V fine, or should I change it to 1.65V? The G.Skill Ram Configurator (http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=185) says 1.6 Volts as Test Voltage.

      2) I have a Stepping 2 and Revision BL-C2 cpu. How do I know if the memory runs fine? I can boot to windows fine, and until now, no errors are encountered (though I have tried for only about an hour).

Also, CPU-Z reports in the memory tab the following:

      DRAM Frequency: 801.6 MHz
      FSBRAM: 1:4
      CL: 8.0 clocks
      tRCD: 8 clocks
      tRP: 8 clocks
      tRAS: 24 clocks
      tRC: 34 clocks
      CR: 2T

      3) How can I set CPU/NB voltage to 1.2V? Sorry, newbie here. This is my first time building my own pc.

      Thanks again!

If it is specced at 1.6V then leave it at that.

To change CPU/NB, set Multiplier/Voltage change to manual, then scroll down and set NB Voltage to 1.2V.

by CPU/NB, do you mean I should change only the NB voltage or both NB and CPU? My cpu is volted at 1.425V and NB is at 1.2*V. Thanks!

            Those settings seem fine.
