  • Problem with ASUS P7P55D & F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL in 8GB conf

    Hello,
I have some problems in my new PC configuration seems to be G.Skill Ripshaw RAM problem.

    The System :
    Windows7 64bits
    Mainboard Asus P7P55d
Rams F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL (with 4x2GB pakage), buy in 2 package of 2x2GB
    CPU Intel I7 Core 860
    Bios Update from Asus1102

I have some BOSD or freeze (after feww seconds or minutes...) after windows launching in 8GB configuration (4x2GB).
No problems in 4GB or 6GB configuration (no freeze, no BOSD).
MemTest+ are OK for all RAM in dual configuration (2x2GB).

I tried some configuration (XMP, manual ..) without success.

For exemple, i tried this configuration from GSKILL forum :

    i7 860 processor:

    AI Overclock Tuner - Manual
    CPU Ratio Setting - 17.0 for 2.83GHz
    BCLK Frequency - 167
DRAM Frequency - DDR3-2004MHz --> set to DDR3-1606 (both same result --> no success)

    DRAM Voltage - 1.65V
    CPU PLL Voltage - 1.90V

    DRAM Timing Control (submenu)
    CAS Latency - 9
RAS to CAS Delay - 9
    RAS PRE Time - 9
RAS ACT Time - 27 --> set to 24 (both same result--> no success)

DRAM Timing Mode - 1N --> set to 2N (both same result --> no success)
    All others can be AUTO

What are best RAM BIOS settings for my hardware configuration (in 4x2GB) ?

Thank you from french GSKILL user!

hi you won't get a good reply from any one. I registered on this site ,motherboard site , bought 2 video cards. tried every thing. I may have a different problem seems amd cpu's put the memory controller in the cpu. As far as I can tell thats where the error accurs.Same as you it only happens with all slots filled with ram. not sure g.skill has yet to tell you this they dont guaranty you can use more then 2 pcs. of ram. First they tell you to try all kinds of settings. My final solution was 6gb. and wait for someone to step up and fix this. Curious to know if your memory controllor is also in the Intel I7 now? Good luck with this. Bill

What is your tRFC at, prob want 195ish (if shown in ns (nano-seconds), 88 otherwise), timing mode needs to be 2N, disable XMP,

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

        All others can be AUTO
Note : Oc - Turbo Profile

        Save&Exit
        Reset
--> Overclocking failed! Please enter Setup to re-configure your system
--> Press F1 to return Setup
        --> Press F2 ...

        I set tRfc to 82
        Save&Exit

--> Windows7 launching, RAM detection OK in windows task manager, OCCT test during 10 mn --> OK.

I try tomorrow morning in cold configuration or new settings provided.

            Conclusion ??

Ripjawed is in right way ...
1156 platform with 8GB in 4 RAM slot is not stable in any bios settings configuration.
Some configuration is stable during one day, 2 days but in fine, BOSD come back or some data from memory is corrupted (i have some pictures completely corrupted after saving process).
Where is a proble, RAM, 1156, CM ... I don't now but isnot stable and exploitable
Some configurations are stable ... is a lucky day ...
I tried manual configuration, XMP configuration .... and many ...

My final configuration --> 6 GB RAM!!!

So you do have the latest BIOS?

Clear all settings. Simply enable XMP Profile and let me know how that works. What are all the voltages set at such as IMC?

                Thank you

                  Test results

                  Hi,
                  0 - The System :
                  Windows7 64bits
                  Mainboard Asus P7P55d

                  CPU Intel I7 Core 860
                  Bios Update from Asus1102

1 - Bios Update from Asus1102 (not the most recent 1207 but nothing about RAM /cpu management in this latest version)
2 - I tried some XMP profile --> configuration not stable in 8 GB configuration(BOSD) and/or data corrupted in some files about some minutes or some hours ...not reproductible ... But configuration still stable in 6GB configuration.
3 - I use memtest+ to check RAM. In some MANUAL configuration, errors are detected (sometimes after 17hours of test ...). After many tests (one DIMM, 2 DIMMS ....) no particular DIMM defect identified... In XMP configuration, no error detected for all DIMMS.
4 - Manually modified voltage (in XMP and MANUAL tests):
                  DRAM Voltage - 1.65V
                  CPU PLL Voltage - 1.90V
5 - IMC voltage set to AUTO

In conclusion, i have some configuration stable in 6GB but i never find bios settings for stable configuration in 8GB.

                  Think in advance

Set IMC to 1.35V and see how that goes.

                      --> MemTest+ OK (test > 10 Hours), windows7 seems to work properly (> 3hours).
But .............. I restart this morning in the strictely same configuration --> memtest detect error only after 30 secs in test#2. I retried --> same result.

I check all memtest result. In all memtest errors since I tried to find stable configuration in 8GB configuration (more one month ...), Memtest86+ errors are always at more of 7000 MB and the error bit is always the bit6 (start to 0).

                      Some another recommendations ???
