  • Pi DDR 3 memory heat spreader size problem

    Hi Guys,

I have 4 sticks of the dd3 pi series ram and the heat spreader is gigantic! I have a thermal take duo orb which is having clearance issues with these heat spreaders. Its just barely not tall enough to fit over them. What do you suggest I do to fix the issue. Id hate to get rid of the heat spreaders or the really cool cpu cooler. Can i bend the heat spreaders, or snip them down? What do you think?

any physical damage to the heat spreader will make warranty invalid
and it will also hurt the memory modules
you can try to find other heat spreaders which would not influence ours
    thanks

I understand, I did not end up having to modify the ram whatsoever. However, I am having a problem with timings using 4 x 2gb sticks. What are the correct timings to use for this?

for running 4 sticks, we'd recommend you to run only DDR3 1333 CL8/9
