  • F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL & F3-1866C9D-16GXM OK together?

Currently using F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL and it has been solid, but, I need to get more RAM.
I am wondering if F3-1866C9D-16GXM would be OK on a Asus m5a99fx motherboard.
I checked their QVL here, http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...M_QVL_1127.pdf and it isn't listed.

They both have the same specs:
    Cas Latency: 9
    Voltage: 1.5V
    Timing: 9-10-9-28
    Both are PC3-14900.

Will not be O/Cing the RAM in any way.

Thanks for any info on this!

Since i doubt a mix of two different types of kits was tested officially, you are most likely in trial and error territory.

There might be differences in the secondary timings and some mainboards then disable XMP support. So you probably have to set those manually. Use those from the 2x8GB kit as they might need more relaxed settings because of the higher IC density.

Give them a try and let us know how it goes. We can help tweak it for stability, or you will find out they don't work together at all.
