  • Cant get all 4 sticks working (2400)

    Hi there,

i have recently built a new system and have chosen to use TridentX DDR3 2400 as its red and has one of the lowest CAS and highest Mhz.

    I have 4x F3-2400C10D-8GTX (4gb each)

However, i can only get the system to run using 2 sticks

I can get the system to run with all 4 sticks at the default 1600mhz

    System
    • MSI Gaming 7
    • i7 4790k (Stock Cooler)
    • Msi 970 GTX
    • EVGA 550 GS
    • Samsung SM951 (OS)
    • 2x Samsung 840 SSD RAID0

I have run Memtest 86, Memtest 86+ overnight and windows memory test with out any errors. I can use any 2 sticks together and so i am pretty confident there arn't any issues with the modules.

Help on this would be appreciated as i would love to get this rig running at its full potential.

Have you tried to reduce frequency to 2133?

Manually input settings for the RAM

XMP and DDR3-2400 may not work because you are attempting two separate kits

They are both 2400, should it not work?

if i set to 2133 will i be able to manually have a lower CAS than 10?

With 1.60-1.65V at DDR3-2133 you can try 9-11-11-28 as primary timings.

Yes, they will both work as 8GB kits installed, that's what they are designed and rated to do. DDR3-2400 10-12-12 is guaranteed for each 8GB kit..

but not when paired together or mixed. Specs only mean they are capable of the same, it doesn't mean you can just pair them together to run at the same full speed.

They are sisters, but not identical twins.

Give it a shot and see how it goes.

            i'll give it a go but i feel i need to purchase 2x 8GB!

at 2133 it won't quite be as fast as 2400

will let you know if it works!

              sorry for the late reply

got it running with all 4 sticks at 2133 as suggested. need to adjust the timings now to see if that works

However my score in 3dmark went down at 2133, speed > capacity

If you want 4x4GB @ 2400 you probably have to switch to manual settings and tweak CPU SA and IO voltages yourself for stability.

I would love to make this stable at 2400 C10

im now water cooling with a H100i V2 so im happy to OC anything to get this working at that speed.

but i have no idea where to start.

4 slots filled looks so much better than 2!!

Increase timings and set frequency to 2400 and see how that works.

Notice the current VCCSA Voltage because you may need to manually set it and it will require more than it does at 2133

checked the command centre and i its running at 9-11-11-28 as primary timings.

so this is great but its not as fast as the XMP profile, so i need to now look at how to make 2400 stable or have a CAS of 7 at 2133 for it to run at the equivient speed.

What can i safley set the VCCSA voltage? is that the only thing to look at? is this the same as the VCCIN i can see on my MSI Mobo? currently at 1.8

                        10-12-12-31 minimum

CAS 7 won't be possible, but it definitely won't need to be that low to have comparable performance to 2400 C10

VCCSA is usually about 1.25V for 2400

I have used MSIs OC Genie and its seems to be fine at 2400!! so i think i just need to copy the voltages from here!

resulted in 28.4k sky diver test

little short of the 29.1k i got with windows 7 an 8gb

i know firestrike is the top test however i wanted to compare previous machines and tests i had done!
