  • DDR3 for a gigabyte GA-P43T-ES3G

I know this is an old board but I upgraded it to a modified Xeon X5472 (1600FSB) and I wanted to know what G.Skill memory would be compatible so I can run the memory at 1600.
Saw some G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL and wondered if it was compatible. If i could get a list of compatible memory that would be great. The memory configurator doesn't even show my board. Thanks

You need double sided 4GB modules and those can be difficult to find these days

    Try this kit

Thanks for the reply, double sided would be considered low density ? I remember on a lot of the old socket A boards that was a necessity. Right now I have 3 sticks Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3/2GX 2GB I had 4 but after a year kept having memory errors. tested bad with all 4 but ok with three. Wanted to try 2 sticks of G.skill for 8 GB.

I found this old post that seems to show some other 4GB modules compatible that can run at 1600 mhz
http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=5521, any others to recommend? Uh Oh I see New egg is out of stock of the value ram you recommended, guess I waited too late! I looked on the memory finder on New egg and it does not even show any 4GB modules. What is strange I can search for the P45T-ES3G and they have all kind of memory listed. Is the P43T that much different form the P45T?

          Hi

The only two memory kit who made by low density(double sided 256x8):
          http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-10666cl9d-8gbnt-
          http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-1600c11d-8gnt

Others were all high density(single sided 512x8) for all DDR3 memory module.

Another question , I have the chance to buy a Gigabyte GA-P45T-ES3G board, it is like mine but has the P45 chipset. Does it also require double sided 4GB modules also ?? I can't believe they advertised these boards as 16GB capable and you can't hardly find the memory for that!

Yes, you can't find compatible new RAM because DDR3 has changed quite a bit since 2009.

Seems like only 6-7 years but that's a couple lifetime for computer hardware
