  • Problems with new G.skill Ripjaws X 2133 16gb

    I recently received G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C10D-16GXM

Although I cannot boot with any speed past 1600mhz with them even though they are rated at 2133. It just gives me overclocking errors in the bios and sets everything back to stock when attempting to boot at 1866 or 2133.

I've tried setting all the timings, voltage, etc manually. I've tried leaving everything on auto except the memory speed. I've reset the cmos. I've also tried using only 1 stick. Nothing seems to work.

My old memory Corsair Vengeance 1600 (2x4gb) boots just fine at 2133mhz, albeit with not very good timings, and I can run games fine with it. So I know my pc can boot 2133 ram no problems.

Also the XMP profiles seem weird in cpu-z since they are 2000 and 1778 which seem like odd speeds to me, shouldn't they be 2133 and 1866?

Any help with getting the ram to boot at 2133 would be appreciated.

    Hi,

Have you ever update the latest BIOS? Or ever use the XMP? Could you let us know what is your CPU/Motherboard?
Also, the latest CPU-Z is 1.67, the old version may not reading correctly.

However, if your board could support 2133Mhz, no matter XMP or manual tweak should be able to work, or you could install one memory stick at a time to see how it works.

I have the most up to date bios, F8 for my motherboard. I've also tried using the XMP profile, with one and two sticks and in slot 1/3 and 2/4 and I still get the same problem.

      My specs are:
      Intel 2500k
      Gigabyte p67a-ud4-b3
      Seasonic X650
      gtx 570

        Hi,

Please make sure use the "XMP profile 2", cause the P67 chipset use the XMP1.2 instead of XMP 1.3.

Make sure you adjust the Timing 10-12-12-31 with 2T commend rate.(manual tweak)
(or you could try 11-13-13-31 to see if the board can run 2133 at this timing)

If all of these not working, slightly adjust the DRAM voltage to 1.65v/
CPU voltage to 1.25 for another try.
