  • F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL Rampage II BSOD 101

Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extrem (X58)
    CPU: Intel Core i7 920 SLBEJ LGA1366 D0
    RAM: F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL (4x4Gb) RIPJAWS
    BIOS: 2101 (latest)

    Hey Guys,

everytime i try to install Windows 7 a get a BSOD error 101, at the end.
I try 4,3,1 Ram in the right slots, with and without XMP settings but it doesn't help.
Without XMP the bios put the ram on 1066, with it to 1600 9-9-9-24 on 1,5V.

    I haven't started OC jet

Is there any one with the same problems or have you some changes i can try ?

    Thanks!

    I would run memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/
burn the ISO to CD or DVD and boot off of it. Run the test. If it passes once or twice, your problem is most likely not memory related.

      i forgot to tell.
I did this with a ubuntu cd
And it fail #7 random testing, but i read that this can be a problem of the ram config or so...

        DDR3 2000(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600(O.C.) / 1333
According to your MOBO's specs, 1600mhz is only possible through overclocking.

I made a post about my experience with 1600mhz ram at 1333mhz
http://gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=11987 If you'd rather just underclock the ram to 1333 which is the only speed your motherboard technically supports without overclocking, set the timings to 7-7-7-21 and let me know how that goes.
If you want them to run at 1600mhz it's probably possible. Key in all of the settings manually. Make sure none of your voltages are set to auto. Set them to factory recommended. If you don't know what the factory voltages are, try setting the voltages to their minimum settings. This usually works

I only set the ram to 1333mhz and set the timings to 7-7-7-21, but there are much more timings...(all standing at auto).
Memtest #7 failed again but the ram an timings are shown like u say.
i try to install windows now and hope there will be no BSOD 101.

Have i set every of my 1000 valus manual to protect my hardware like you say in the other thread or only if i want to go to 1600mhz ?

PS.: I just got a BSOD 101 again
Did you got a BSOD ?

With 4 sticks and the Rampage may have to raise the DRAM voltage + 0.05 (to about 1.55, 1.56) and the MC voltage about the same (an addition + 0.05 to whatever it is setting it to

              so i try:
              4 Rams in DIMMA1 DIMMA2 DIMMB1 and DIMMC1
              Target DRAM frequency: 1333Mhz
              DRAM Bus Voltage 1.55081
DRAM CAS# Latency 7 DRAM Clock
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay 7 DRAM Clock
DRAM RAS# PRE Time 7 Clock
and DRAM RAS# ACT Time 21 DRAM Clock
All other Time are at Auto

              Memtest #7 Failed :/
i will try to reproduce the BSOD

PS.: BSOD 101 is still there
Could it be a problem with die CPU and not with the ram ?

Try doing the install with a single stick and then try the DRAM, some BIOSs seem to have problems loading installing Win with multiple sticks

I tried but got a BSOD again :/ with both config,
i also tried a singel 2gb CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9A and get the same BSOD,
more and more i belief the cpu is the bad guy...
but weird is that both ram cause an error on memtest #7 the CORSAIR worked in a other PC

Might be a CPU or mobo problem
