  • DDR3 1600 for AMD FM2 Trinity?

    Hi there.

I'm going to build up my rig using AMD FM2 Trinity platform.

    Here is my rig :
    MSI A85XA-G65 AMD Socket FM2
    AMD A10-5800K (Radeon HD7660D) 3.8Ghz Cache 4MB 100W Socket FM2
    Seasonic G-550 550W Modular

Which is the best 'value for money' G.Skill DDR3 1600 Mhz for FM2 platform?
Cause my budget is a little limited.
The 2x2GB is enough for me.

    I was thinking :
    G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Gaming Series-Ripjaws PC3-12800 / DDR3 1600 MHZ (2X2GB) DDR3
    G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL Performance Series-Ripjaws X PC3-12800 / DDR3 1600 MHZ (2X2GB) DDR3

    Is that above okay?
    Or the other please.

    Big regads.
    Thank you.

Either will work, the Ripjaws X is the newer line of the two

That particular CPU has a onboard controller rated at 1866. To maximize your speed it would be best to get a mem kit rated at that speed as well. Also, as a long time user of the AMD APU platform, I can honestly say you are hurting yourself by not using 8gigs of RAM. Depending on your motherboard, and whether you are using the IGP, your system will reserve up to 1gig of your total system RAM just to the IGP. Whichever way you go just make sure you manually set the speed and timings in your BIOS, don't let it use auto settings.
