Looking at these as an alternative to the Pi 8500's I had that I could not get to work right with my GA-EP45-UD3P V 1.6 board.

Anyone have these RipJaws Series and any comments? would love to know, and not be the crash test dummy.

I am also looking at these as well and it's down to these two, the one above or this one below (yes its a competitor)

G Skill Tech or Genetix, or Tradesman, any comments?? I will also need to know what the timings are for my board if I do the Ripjaws-- (The name already scares me) lol

Ripjaws are a great deal. Knowing Egg, they will probably raise pricing as demand goes up. The OCZ Plats are nice as well, but it's not fair to compare 1066 vs 1200.

        How about some settings for the 1200 Ripjaws on a GA-EP45-UD3P v 1.6 board?? 6 6 6 18

And sorry for comparing the two rams, but I am seeing those other 1066's clocking high results but also not enough drive time to know if that lasts!

ps- the pricing is VERY attractive for 1200 RAM too!!

The Ripjaws look extremely interesting, though I haven't tried them yet (GSkill, if you want to send me a set or two, I'd be happy to run some test on them to provide an independent view, think the DDR2 1200 would go nice on either my UD3R, or UD3P, or any of the DDR3 - would like to see the DDR2 with the Blue/Black/Red heatsinks you use on DDR3 4GBRM sets).

I've used a number of the Platinum sets and never had any problems with them (except with a couple AMD build/updates, and then it wasn't a problem with the sticks, they were fine, ended up running one set of 1066 at 1033, and the other sticks I put in an Intel box. With Intel there haven't been any problems with DDR2 and only a couple glitches in DDR3....though I will say, I had two builds with their DDR3 1333 12GB sets...and it was sweet, I was sweating those builds till I actually started (12GB can be a real Pain in the butt...if you know what I mean.

I think it would be good to have at least two testers-- I volunteer for that!

Hmmmmmmm......why did I think somebody else might 'volunteer' also......LOL.....I've been volunteering for months - even inquired about employment w/ GSkill on a part time basis...maybe one of these days....ya never know, I did beta work on Win95, NT, and NT Server, finally got a freebie on Win98 when they started beta (then XP, Vista and Win7.....passed on Millinium based on a buds recommendation who's a MS employee. Some hardware vendors bring in beta type people others don't, I've been pretty happy over the years

Never hurts to ask, the worse that can happen (hopefully) is they say no.

I am a beta guy, looking for early adoption.

And an original Crash Test Dummy!!

First system was a Z80 microprocessor, 64 kilobytes of RAM, and two 5?-inch double-density floppy-disk drives. It ran on CP/M operating system, and sold for about US$1,795.00. that's before DOS, Microsoft and Apple-- Michael Dell was not even in High School yet-- Sony and Toshiba made AM radios lol Radio Shack came out with the TRS80 and Commodore had an 8bit called the Commodore 64

My God, we are an aged lot - (you left out the ADAM), I started w/ big iron (mainframes) in 1980 and a Cromemco System III micro running Cromix, which was similar to Unix. Bet you remember when Kermit came out (a Godsend) and QDOS (Quick and Dirt Operating System).

....and people today think setting up a computer is hard....if only they had to break out the soldering iron or check 72 chips looking for RAM chip that was bad in a 64k system....

Whooooooo, today is a piece of cake..

If your memory (4GB) only works in slots 2 and 4, and not slots 1 and 3 and would like a resolution, please email directly to ustech@gskill.com with subject "GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P problem" and we will help you resolve your problems. I am directly working with GIGABYTE with this issue and we are looking for cases to solve.

                    Thank you

I have the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and four sticks of F2-9600CL5D-4GBTD. After using the above settings, I am able to use two sticks in slots 1 & 3, OR, two sticks in slots 2 & 4. I can NOT use all four sticks. I get memtest freezeups, blue screens, etc. I have memtested all the sticks individually and in pairs using either the red slots or the yellow slots. All appears fine, just limited to 4 GB at a time. I bought this memory and MB because they appeared to be (on paper) the best setup available to go the x64 route with my E8400 and Corsair 650 w p/s.

I have experimented with most all the setups in the forum, all to no avail. I'm at the end of my rope. Any ideas?

What memory frequency are you using? Do you have CPU Host Frequency at 375? It may be too stressful on the memory controller to run 8GB at DDR2-1200. Let me know your exact settings and we'll go from there. Please create your own thread, I don't want to flood this guide.

                        Thank you

                          Hi,

I know this thread is kind of old, but I couldn't find the final resolution to the situation.

I'm new too overclocking....but I saw a F2-9600CL5D-4GBTD for sale on amazon so I thought I would give my system a boost.

I'm a filmmaker and would appreciate the added speed to decrease my rendering time in After Effects and Maya 2011 (64bit).

I appreciate all the help I can get.

My system is currently as follows
                          EP45-UD3P (rev FE)
                          Q9650 3.6Ghz (9x400mhz)
                          Thermalright Venomous 120 (1 fan)
                          500 Watt Generic
                          CoolerMaster 922HAF
                          NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+

                          thanks

Well... did you at least try the guide posted above? You need to try that first, then see if you can work the CPU FSB to 400 from 375.

                            Thank you

Yes, I tried it. Didn't work.

Here is my current MIT settings. Right now, I just want my CPU to run at stock 3.00 Ghz, and my ram to run at 1200mhz. And to be able to run prime95 without an issue.

Let me know what I should tweak first. Thanks for the add.

                              Code:
                              CPU = Q9650 E0
                              Motherboard = EP45-UD3P (Rev. 1.6)
