  • F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX issue

    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz
Motherboard: Dell 0W2562 (for Dell Dimension 8300, which is my computer)
    Chipset: Intel i875P Rev. A2

I have just received 2x1GB F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX. My BIOS, however, only recognizes the memory as DDR333. Put with 2x512MB CL3 Sumsung PC3200U-30331-Z, the computer will not boot. Put with 2x128MB CL3 MT4VDDT1664AG-40BC3 PC3200U-30331-C1, all memories are recognized as DDR266. What is the problem? How can I resolve the issue?

Since P4 3.0GHz works best with DDR400, I really want 2x1GB DDR400 for my computer. Better if they can work well with 2x512MB CL3 Sumsung PC3200U-30331-Z to make my total memory 3GB. If the problem cannot be resolved, would you please recommend another G.Skill model that will accomplish the mission?

Thank you in advance for your help.

we thought it was SPD issue
when you mix memory with different spec, it would only run at the lower speed and higher Cas Latency
    and even not boot
    thanks

But if I put only the 2x1GB F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX, the computer still recognizes the RAM as DDR333 instead of DDR400. How to resolve this issue?

Maybe with the 1gb sticks your memory controller slows the FSB down to DDR333 to keep everything stable. 1 gb sticks put quite a load on the memory controller.

then we'd assume your motherboard locks the frequency and timing setting in BIOS
as for our ZX series, it is CL2@DDR 400
but your motherboard only allow it to run CL2.5 or CL3@DDR400, so it would downgrade to run DDR 333
we don't think this isse could be solved by us
and for DELL, we thought they don't want user to change any value in BIOS, so they lock those function
          thanks

If I want 2x1GB DDR400 G.Skill RAMs to work with my 2x512MB CL3 Sumsung DDR400 RAMs, and I want all of them to be recognized as DDR400, would you please recommend another model of your RAMs? Thanks.

we don't know if there would be any incompatibility issue with Samsung memory
but in theory, F1-3200PHU2-2GBNT would be your choice
              it is DDR400 3-4-4-8 2x1GB module
              thanks
