  • Overclock G.Skill Ares 1600Mhz 2133Mhz

    Hi all, i'm new here

i have a little problem with my ram --> http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=474

i can't overclock my G.Skill Ares up to 2133Mhz, my system don't start up (spec in sign)

    I have nice timing with 1600Mhz - 1,35Volt (2T-9-9-9-24)
    And 1866Mhz - 1,55Volt (2T-9-10-9-24)

    Any advice is appreciated

    Thanks!

It's a 1600 set, and with most I've used you generally can always move up a range or so, like you've done to 1866, to hit 2133 may need 1.6 DRAM Voltage, may have to raise MC voltage (think it's CPUVTT or VTTCPU on your then timings might start with 11-10-10-31 and if stable there try and tighten them down, nay or may not work

Hi Tradesman, thanks for your help

I have also tried with 1,65 Dram Voltage. Now i look for VTTCPU

      -----

      So...2133Mhz, 1.6/1.65 Dram Voltage - VTTCPU 1.13 - SA 0.91 - PLL 1.9 - and system don't start up...

      help..?

What type OC do you have on the CPU, might try 4.2 or a little more as a OC is required for those freqs

Ok, cpu in overclock 4400mhz, no difference..

I tested one stick of ram at a time, 1 of my stick "works" with 2133 (system boot one out of five)
other stick it never works with 2133

          Therefore, a limit of ram?

          p.s. 2133Mhz - 11-12-11-31 1.65V - VTTCPU 1.13 - SA 0.91 - PLL 1.9

Think that would be my guess, most all I've used will go up at least 1 level, some even more, but no real way of knowing what any individual stick or set can do

bah, It was only a test for a review. I would not have used the ram at this frequency

for 50 Euro this is a good buying, or not?

Sounds good, not sure of the exchange rate or pricing in Europe, I've used a few sets of those sticks and always been happy w/ them
