  • Using XMP

I have Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM. Of course without enabling XMP, this RAM is running at 1600MHz. I did enable XMP and it runs at the advertised speed of 2133MHz and 9-11-10-28 at 1.65V. My question is this: Since these sticks were built to run at 1.65V and 2133MHz, is there any reason that I would want to run them at 1600MHz and 1.5V and not enable XMP? Is there a downside to running these at the higher freq and voltage?

Nope, nothing that I can think of.. unless you want to follow Intel's standard spec because you do not like performance. If you bought that memory, you should be an enthusiast, so I don't think that's your position.

    Thank you
