  • matching memory speeds and cpu

Im in the process of upgrading my gaming pc which is about 6 years old to a modern gaming pc. Im considering the Core i7-8086K.
This processor list memory type as DDR4-2666. I want to get the fastest memory that i can take advantage of. Does that mean its pointless to go above 2666?

Im looking at the ASUS ROG Maximus X Code LGA 1151 (300 Series) mobo and it supports memory speeds upto 4133 but it seems unlikley that I could take advantage of that.

latency is probably more important that speeds alone to some extent if I recall correct. I found on the asus QVL F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR its 4x 8gb 3200 with CAS of 14.

I would like 32gb of memory what should I be looking for to get best performance without wasting money on something that will provide no benefit in my case

    Thanks

3200 C14 is right where you should be, so that kit would be perfect.

You can also consider two 16GB modules
