  • How do I Install Ripjaw 2400 in Dell XPS 8920

My Dell XPS 8920 came with 2 x 4gb 2400 Ram. I added G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-32GVR and everything worked fine but it was running at 2133. I took out the 2 x 4gb and everything is fine but it still runs at 2133. How do I reset the Bios to run at 2400? Is it ok to use the 2 x 4gb and the 2 x 16gb together or will it affect performance?

Do you have XMP option in BIOS? Make sure it is enabled. You will need to test and see if the two kits can work together at DDR4-2400.

There is not an XMP option in the bios. There is an overclock option which is disabled but I'm unable to select it to change it.

Why would the computer with 2 x 4gb 2400 ram that came with the computer be set to run at 2133? This is a brand new machine. Looks like Dell is getting their computer back. Thank goodness for Costco's excellent return policy.
