  • Asus Z87-WS Memory

Great help, this forum. Thank you.

OK, I got enamored of faster memory and performance from this forum and that led to my looking at other motherboards. First was sold on Sabertooth, but really decided now on the Z87-WS since i do a lot of video and photo production and GIS work.

So the problem is that I really like the 32 Gig Ripjaws X 2400 memory - F3-2400C11Q-32GXM
but the QVL on the G.Skill site doesn't list the WS mobo. Should I take this as final and look for another memory?

The F3-19200CL10Q-32GBZHD has a blank QVL.

So, what memory do you recommend for a Z87-WS Motherboard, 32 gig. Thank you.

Either of the memory kits you mentioned can work just fine. The main thing is to have a CPU that can support the extreme frequency. For DDR3-2400, an i7 CPU such as the 4770K is necessary.

    Thank you

Thanks. Should have mentioned that I will get Intel i7-4770k.

The Ripjaws X F3-2400C11Q-32GXM are about USD$40 less expensive than the Ripjaws Z F3-19200CL10Q-32GBZHD. The 'Z' blurb on newegg says it was designed specifically for the 1150 socket, Z87 mobo. Timings a little faster with CAS 10 vs 11. Thoughts?

Last option is being conservative with 2133 ram F3-2133C11Q-32GZL which is less expensive too, timings and CAS 11.

I am running incredibly slow 1333 on 1st gen i7, so no matter what I do, I will notice a speed boost, just don't want to make a mistake.

      Thanks for your advice.

I think I may have solved my confusion. The sniper series F3-2133C10Q-32GSR is right in-between the others in price, on the QVL of G.Skill and has a CAS of 11. A little slower than the Z 2400 F3-19200CL10Q, but the same as the "X" memory of the same size.

So my question is - where does Sniper fit in the lineup compared to X and Z?

X came out aimed at the 1155, Z at 2011 and 1150 sockets, the Snipers are more of a mainstream line not directly aimed at any particular socket,

in general for DRAM I look at performance DRAM as 1866/8, 2133/9, 2400/10 or 2666/11 (or better at CL at those freqs with each step up you get a bit of a performance boost so.....

2133/11 vs 2400/10 is a big drop in performance as well as bandwidth

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

My friend owns 32 Gig Ripjaws X 2400, works like a charm, highly recommended imo
