  • [UNDER PROCESS]Can't run 1000mhz on Asus Commando with F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ

model of the motherboard: Asus Commando with 1801 Bios
model of the memory: F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ (2x2GB)
model of the CPU: Intel Q9550

what is the problem: this problem also happened with my previous e6600 CPU.

    I am able to run DDR2-800mhz @ 4-4-4-15 very easily. And 5-5-5-15.

I can not go higher than 830 or the computer will not boot. Not with stock spec, rated spec, 5-5-5-15-2T 2.1v does not work, 2.2v does not work. 2.0 does not work. 1000 will not work with any timings.

Do you have some specific settings for me to try, or is this an incompatibility issue? I am at the brink of throwing the memory in the trash and buying something else. It runs great at DDR2 800, but I can't go higher with 5-5-5-15 even with 2.1v.

    I have tried DDR2-900mhz with 5-5-5-15 2.1v
    1000 5 5 5 15 2.1
    850 5 5 5 15 2.1v

    830mhz works.
    800 4-4-4-15 2.1v works. (which is nice). Why can't I run 1000?

try to keep all timing auto, it should get 5-5-5-15 automatically
or try to set tRFC to the maximum value
this board is difficult for users to overclock 2 GB modules
    thanks

I have tried to use the automatic setting with this board, and it will still not go past 830mhz. (415 fsb). It does set the timings the same. I have tRFC set to the maximum value, which is 42, but still no go, it won't boot.

This isn't an overclock though is it? I have yet to reach the rated speeds of the modules.

        Here is what i've tried:

When I run stock settings @ ddr2-1000: the computer won't boot.
        When I run stock timings @ 2.0v ddr2-1000: the computer won't boot.
        When I run stock timings @ 2.1v ddr2-1000: the computer won't boot.
When I run it using a smaller or larger divider to anything near DDR2-1000 it won't boot.
When I set the timings manually to the rated specs @ ddr2-1000: it won't boot.
When I raise the timings to 5-6-6-15 42 tRC, no boot.
When I increase the NB voltage a little it won't boot.
When I increase the NB voltage a lot, it won't boot.

        When I try DDR2-800 @ 5-5-5-15 1.9v, 2.0v, 2.1v it boots.
        When I try DDR2-800 @ 4-5-5-15 2.0v,2.1v it boots.
        When I try DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12 2.1v it boots.

        When I try DDR2-830 @ 5-5-5-15 2.1v it boots.

I cannot use anything over DDR2-850 or it wont boot. Whether through the use of a smaller divider and a large FSB, or through a small FSB and a larger divider. The rest of my system is very stable, even the RAM is stable just not at the rated speeds.

What do I need to do to get the ram to run at higher speeds other than trying CL6? (which would be ridiculous)

we'll reflect this issue with ASUS and once we get reply, we'll post the reply here

Well the RAM is fine, I just tested it on my Intel 975 and the RAM works great at 960mhz + at even tighter timings than the rated specs.

Plus I just tried 2x1GB of the HZ DDR2-800 chips in this commando and I'm booted up @ 1038mhz.....

So the conflict lies directly in the 2x2GB DDR2-1000 sticks running on the commando. Which would mean Asus needs a bios Update I think. Can you help do anything about that?

we already reflect this issue, but ASUS haven't solved it yet

ASUS said they would try to fix the BIOS, but didn't get a reply yet
