  • [SOLVED] New 2GB sticks CL ? F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI

    Old set up:

    Abit AW9D-Max
    Intel E6600 @ 3.2 GHz
    2GB G Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ 4-4-4-12 1:1
    EVGA 8800 GTX
    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB
    OCZ GameXstream 700W PSU
    X-FI Xtreme Gamer
    Zalman 9700
    Cooler Master STC-T01

Running 64bit Vista so picked up 4GB (2x2GB) GSK F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI

Windows loaded using the sticks at 2.0V with default timings (5CL). Any attempt to run the sticks at CL4 (bumping up RAM voltage to 2.1 or 2.2) resulted in the board freezing with a CL1 error (memory issues).

Current settings orthos stable for hours:
    3232 Mhz core speed
    x9.0 multiplier
    1436.7 FSB

    448.9 Mhz
    4:5
    CL 5
    tRCD 5
    tRP 5
    RAS 13
    TRC 21

    cpu core= 1.5250v
    ddr2 sdram voltage 2.00v
    mch + pcie 1.5v = 1.70

Any suggestions as to getting these sticks running CL4 with this memory and board? Performance seems very snappy within Vista.

Was able to boost the cpu to 3.4 and run the memory at 475mhz

    5-5-5-13-21 2.0V

would you like to run your CPU at default clock first and set the DRAM frequency to DDR2 800?
we're afraid this kit of memory is not strong enough to run 1:1 on this motherboard

I can certainly try. I do have very nice numbers at the moment imo.

3.4 oc on a cpu that is stick @ 2.4.

Memory at 475 MHZ instead of 400MHz. If games , apps, and OS play nicely I say the sticks are a keeper. Would be nice to push CL4 but as advised when inquiring about this memory this 975X chipset is getting a bit old.

Will continue to tweak. Thanks for the support!

Our F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI is guarantee DDR2 800 CL4. Due to the IC architecture, it is hard to overclock to DDR2 900 / 450MHz CL4.

Got ya! I am impressed with the performance at CL5 none the less. Do you think I could up to 8GB running at CL5? There may be chipset limitations but do you think it is worth a shot?

Most of our motherboards in here are using X38, P35 X48, and P45. 95% of them are good to run 8GB. Your motherboard is using 975 chipset, it should be fine.

                Will give it a try!

                Thanks for the great support.
