  • G. Skill F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ 2x1GB DDR 500 PC4000

    Hello!

First of all my PC Sys:

    Asus A8N SLI Deluxe

Athlon X2 4200+ Toledo E6 Stepping (prime stabe at fsb 250)

    Ati 5750

    650 Watt NT

    -----------------

I had some 2*512 MB Crucial Rams before, but I wanted to upgrade to 2 gig.

    So I decided to buy the G. Skill F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ 2x1GB DDR 500 PC4000

    My problem is:

I am not able to run at 250Mhz. When the pc runs asynchron with DDR 400 and cpu at 8*250 everything is prime95 stable for hours...

    I used the following timings:

    CAS# latency (Tcl) 3
    Tras 8T
    Trcd 4T
    Trp 4T
    Row cycling time (Trc) 16T
Row refresh cyc time (Trfc) 18T
Read to write time (Trwt) 3T
    Write time recovery (Twr) 3T
    Memory Timing 1T

    the voltage is 2,6V

Memory may need 2.80V to reach specifications.

    Thank you

have tested it with 2,80V, same result, doesn't work.

Memtest one stick at a time to see if one is defective causing the problem.

        Thank you

have tested the sys with command rate 2 and it works. no errors at memtest, prime95 stable for hours...

any possibilty to run at command rate 1? maybe it's a mainboard issue?

            Neo,

I spent at least a couple years of my life playing with NF4 chipset boards You've got a great oldie but goodie board by the way!

I wouldn't lose any sleep over being able to run the command rate at 1T. If you're stable at 2T then I would leave it as is.

It is a limitation on the board, not in the memory. Now you "could" loosen your primary timings (specifically the CAS Latency) and possibly get the board to run stable with a 1T command rate - but that pretty much defeats the purpose.

I'd leave your timings at the factory specified speeds and just run a 2T command rate.

              Thanks for your answer wevsspot.

I have already thought that it's an mainboard limitation.

Afterall, I have heard that the difference between command rate 1 and 2 espacially with gskill ram isn't that great.

so I try my best with a command rate of 2 ;-)
