  • F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ x2 on Asus P5Q Pro

From priorly running, 4 GB of Muskin ram, I recently upgraded to:
    F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
I bought two of these for a total of 8 GB (4 x 2). After the install I ran Windows Memory Test (something like that), which came up with errors, (PNF_LIST_ERROR ect.). I checked each stick of ram separately using the same Windows Memory Test and all came up clean.

After posting this trouble on Newegg a Representative from G. Skill posted back and informed me to change the DRAM VOLTAGE from AUTO to 1.9v, which I did with immediate (PNF_LIST_ERROR).

The set up runs perfectly with just 6 GB of Ram.

    Please Help me.

    Thanks,
    Ben

please try to add the FSB voltage too
and not every two sets could run together without problem with total 4 sticks
    thanks

please add FSB voltage to 1.4v
and we only guarantee for 2 sticks in dual channel, not 4 sticks in dual channel
4 sticks are more difficult than 2 sticks to be matched
      thanks

I will change the FSB voltage to 1.4v.

It doesn't make sense to me that I can add two but not four sticks. If two works why wouldn't 4.

        Thanks,

        Ben

So I got this issue resolved.

After setting the DRAM Frequency to [DDR2 887]
            The DRAM Voltage to [1.96]
and running the computer through 1+ hour of memtest86+ It passed and is very stable
I also Updated the BIOS to the Latest.
This is the setting that works for Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard, 8GB

              so....you were overclocking before?
We do not guarantee for overclocking

and to match a pair of memory is more difficult than one single stick ,and so does 4 sticks
that's why memory manufacturers would have single and dual channel packs
              thanks

No I wasn't overclocking, because I made sure to reset everything back to the original settings. I understand you don't guarantee for overclocking, but the only way to get the memory to run 8 GB is to overclock. I have no other options, which logically means that you still have to provide me warranty if I run into problems in the future.

I don't understand your second statement. It still doesn't make sense that you would "ok" 2 sticks, but not three or four. In fact 3 sticks worked fine. but 4 did not.

If anyone has another solution which doesn't involve overclocking I would greatly appreciate it.

like single channel and dual channel, not every 2 single sticks would match to run in dual channel without problems
that's also why we have different packages for 1, 2 and 4 sticks
for the dual channel pack with 2 sticks, we only guarantee they could run together fine with 2 sticks, not 4 sticks
                  thanks
