  • F3-12800 Asus P6T i7 920

    G.Skill Support,

    Motherboard: Asus P6T
    Processor: Core i7 920
    Memory: F3-12800 2x2GB
    OS: Vista64 Ultimate

The memory lists itself as 1.5V in my BIOS, and with one stick installed in channel A1, I am able to boot and run just fine at with default settings (X.M.P.) and 1600 speed. However when I install the second stick, I need to manually increase the DRAM voltage to 1.65V (maximum for Core i7) to get it to boot. The system is unstable however, it randomly BSODs. This is true regardless of the speed that I am running the memory.

I have updated the BIOS to the most recent release from Asus (0905) and that seemed to help.

I chose this model of memory as it was listed as compatible in my motherboard manual.

    Please Advise.

I had the sticks installed only in the orange slots.

I performed additional troubleshooting, and the system will boot and run with one of the sticks in slot A1 and the system will not boot or run with any settings with the other stick in A1. I believe one of my sticks is defective.

I did as you asked and I set the memory to the sticker settings of DDR3-1600 with 9-9-9-24 timing. When using Memtest86+ 2.10, I get no failures with the bad stick. I ran it through 3 passes, no failures. Yet, when using the bad stick single channel, vista will boot to my desktop and then immediately bluescreen with a Stop0x50 - Page Fault. No problems at all with the other stick.
