  • HELP - Adding 2 Gigs of "F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX"

    I have 2 x (1GB OCZ 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model OCZ4001024PF) - CL 3-3-3-8 installed in my PC already and it works GREAT! But I'm having issues when I try to add in the G.SKILL memory or even utilize the G.SKILL memory on my PC. Here is what I've done so far (with headache ).

    TEST NUMBER 1:
    After some tweaking in the BIOS (setting the CAS to 3 and disabeling Command Per Clock), I finally booted up the PC without error with the following memory installed:

    --> 2 x (1GB G.SKILL 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) - CL 2-3-2-5

    --> 2 x (1GB OCZ 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model OCZ4001024PF) - CL 3-3-3-8

    Motherboard:
    DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

    The NVIDIA NTUNE application I'm running says this about what I have installed:
    DIMM 0 Vendor Name: Unknown Vendor
    DIMM 0 Vendor Name: OCZ4001024PF
    DIMM 1 Vendor Name: Unknown Vendor
    DIMM 1 Vendor Name: OCZ4001024PF
    DIMM 2 Vendor Name: Unknown Vendor
    DIMM 2 Vendor Name: ZX
    DIMM 3 Vendor Name: Unknown Vendor
    DIMM 3 Vendor Name: ZX

    The Operating System (Windows XP) says:
    2 GIG is only installed

    TEST NUMBER 1:
    I decided to install just the 2 x (1GB G.SKILL 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) memory just for kicks to see what would happen (setting the CAS to auto and setting the CPC to Auto/enabled). It boots up fine, and then I run my OS for a few minutes and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH (some STOP error I believe) and my PC reboots. ::

    MY QUESTION
    So, what do I need to do to get my 4 GIGS working? Note, I am a noob of course.

    AMD K8 platform is limited to run DDR 333 when any 4 sticks are installed
    and the 2 sets have different timing, motherboard would choose the loose one to run
    you may try to test with only our memory to seei f it is defectuve

    the only way to run with 4 sticks on your board is to downgrade the memory speed to DDR 333 and auto timing
    thanks
