  • 1gb registering as 512mb

I've had an identical pair of 1gb gskill ddr2 installed since summer 2006. Previously they were running in dual channel and showed up as 2gb in bios, cpuz, system properties, etc. Now suddenly, within the last couple of months anyway, I've apparently lost 512mb of memory. With both 1 gb sticks installed windows/bios says I only have 1.5gb. When I put in one of the sticks alone, it always says 512mb, the other always says 1gb.

I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of. Different slots, updated bios, etc, but can't resolve the issue. Would this qualify for an RMA?

    Thanks.

i don't even know what flashing spd is. i updated my bios a couple of months ago because i had to in order to update my processor. that's the only thing that's changed since i've had the memory.
