  • M4A79XTD EVO and DDR3 1600 !

Hi, im wanting to buy ddr3 1600mhz for M4A79XTD EVO board with a Phenom II 955

    http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...WHm&templete=2

im worried that i will have problems if i buy any ram thats not in the qvl list for motherboard and wanting someone to confirm it will work and what settings etc

    F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

    F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM

would like the cl7 timings would it work with this board ??

    Thank You

Both will work fine, but the CL7 is still limited for this motherboard. You will only be able to run 8-7-7-24. But hopefully once they come out with a BIOS update you will be able to run CL7 at DDR3-1600.

    Thank you

Thanks is that 8-7-7-24 at 1600mhz, that would be fine cause i can only find 8-8-8-24 @ 1600 and not knowing if they would be compatible with my board. would these also run at 1333mhz what timings ? ,

Thanks for your help was nervous about buying any ram and not knowing if it would work etc and having that hassle

Yes, 8-7-7-24 at DDR3-1600. Should be able to run 7-7-7-21 at DDR3-1333. Keep us posted on the results.

finally have ordered the parts should have them within few days to put together

          Asus M4A79XTD EVO 790X Socket AM3

          AMD Phenom X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz 125watt

          F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

i noticed that asus have updated the bios M4A79XTD EVO BIOS 0704 - 2009/12/04 update
have they got this ram running at rated 7-7-7-24, or still works at 8-7-7-24, have asus been notified about getting this ram working at the rated spec ?

ok once i got it and in order to get it running at 1600mhz, i set timings to 8-7-7-24, what voltage should i run them at ? any other settings would i have to change ??

          Thanks

Yes, ASUS is aware of the issue. Voltage should be fine at 1.60V-1.65V.

finally got everything and put together, seems like its running fine

first i got 7.5 in windows 7 rating, i changed the tRC to 34 and command rate to 2T copied that from the rams XMP settings at 1600mhz, was that ok to do ? By doing that windows 7 rating for ram now to 7.7

                F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

I aint tried 7-7-7-24 just 8-7-7-24, you sure the 7-7-7-24 dont work ?

                Thanks

Give it a try...and if it doesn't, might try 7-8-8-23 or 24, if you can get the CL to 7 you might pick up a tenth or so in your WEI

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

just tried 7-7-7-24 1.6v 1600mhz doesnt even post, wasnt expected it to work, so CL7 still not working on this board,
it runs great on 8-7-7-24 tRC 34 2T 1600mhz, so i think i gotta be happy with that, unless asus release bios that fixes it

So i got it at 8-7-7-24 tRC 32 2T 1600mhz 1.60v, is that the best settings i can set this ram on this board ??

Thanks for your help very much happy
