  • GA-EP35-DS3L vs GSKILL-8500CL5d-4GBPK

model of the motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L (F6A Bios)
    model of the memory: 8500-CL5D-4GBPK
model of the CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

what is the problem: Lots of Blue screen crashes at least once every 3 hours of computer usage.

This happened on Windows XP, Vista 32-bit, Vista 64-bit and XP64-bit.

When only 2 sticks are installed (4GB) NO Problem.
When it's 4 sticks are installed (8GB) always crashes.

I've already RMA the sticks once thinking it was bad, but the new pair does the same things. I have tried switch the pairs around different slots and different combinations, always the same. I don't think it's physical problem. As I've seen many posted relating to Gigabyte Motherboard vs GSkill Memory.

I believe F6a is Gigabyte latest BIOS they have for this model.

perhaps you can work with Gigabyte and get them to release the correct BIOS for this motherboard as well.

    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

running 4 sticks will be more difficult than 2 sticks
so, you may need to add more FSB and NB voltage in BIOS
      thanks

        so Far

ok.. different combinations has continue to crashed for me. infact more often.

right now using 5-5-5-15, +0.3v (to 2.1V) for mem. also add +0.2v to FSB.

more stable so far. but I'll post more next week if it continue to crashed.

I didn't change any of the Advance Timing because i don't understand what these number should be.

perhaps GSkill can post the recommended Non-Overclocking settings these things should be instead of people trying to search all over the place for it.

the sub timings would not affect the stability while running 4 sticks
what influences the stability of 4 sticks is the memory controller in chipset
          thanks

you can add more memory voltage or FSB voltage

                still

Well i've added .02 to FSB and .03 (to make it 2.3v) on Mem.

The system is a bit more stable..but I still get Blue Screen of Death with Memory DUMP every time.

I've check Gigabyte website. Apparantly, alot of users are having problem with memory on their Mobo. and it's not your product.

last time I'm going to buy Gigabyte anything.

I may just have to buy a new Motherboard completely.

running with 4 stiks, you may need to add FSB voltage to +0.3v
we'll also try to contact with Gigabyte to check the situation
                  thanks

running FSB at +.03v and everything else +0.02v

still getting at least 1 Blue screen DUMP every 2hr sessions.

Never had this problem when it was just 4GB.

Also, VISTA memory scanning tools. FAIL every time.

or try to add a fan on them
                      maybe it is overheat

May have been the BIOS, the F6a was a BETA, believe where they were playing with CPU/RAM combos, primarily involving Yorkfield CPUs updates from the F5 BIOS. Might have had more luck with the F4.
