  • many comp freezes 6xF3-12800 CL9T- 6GBNQ

Please tell us the details of your system specifications

Model of the motherboard: Evga x58 (EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail)

    Model of the memory: 6 Gskill F3-12800 CL9T- 6GBNQ DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 2gbx3

    Model of the CPU: Intel core I7 920 (Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Retail )

What is the problem? example: no boot, blue screen, reboot...etc.
When surfing internet computer freezes while loading some pages. Computer occasionally freezes after waking up from screen saver and turned off display. When computer is frozen alt+ctrl+del dose not work, though num lock on my keyboard does respond with the light.

My bios is set to the profile for the sticks and 1.5v.

If it's the sticks you could try upping the voltage to 1.6, but I think I'd look to system settings, BIOS and drivers...as well as OS updates.

    BIOS/drivers can be found here:
    http://www.evga.com/Support/Drivers/Default.asp
Hit Windows Update for OS updates
May want to check with your IP for latest updates/firmware on your internet connection.

    Keep us posted

i have already update bios and tried upping the voltage... i had os updated but i thought it was the problem so i uninstalled it.

Is it possible one of my sticks are defective? How can i test this?

Try testing each stick individually in slot 1 (closest to CPU) with memtest

            cpu uncore freq (auto)

            Memory freq (auto)
            Cmd Rate (auto, 2T)

            Cpu vcore (auto, 1.23125)
            Cp vtt volt (auto, +200)
            Pll vcore (auto, 1.800)
            Dimm 1.600
            QPI PLL vcore (auto, 1.100)
            Ioh vcore (auto, 1.100v)
            Ioh/Ichi/o v (auto 1.500)

            Turbo mode (enable)
            Virtualization tech (disabled)
            QPI freq selection (auto)

Excuse me for being cautios im a little new. Should i change my settings to the ones you have recommended? Do i really have to turn turbo mode off?

              Memory freq (1600)
              Cmd Rate (auto, 2T)

              Cpu vcore (1.25V)

              Virtualization tech (disabled)
              QPI freq selection (auto)

Let me know how that goes.

ok so i tryed it and it bugged out on start up and said "Cmos Checksum Error - Loaded defaults"... so it loaded defaults and i still have the problem.

also im having problems with memtest. I burn the iso file onto a cd. Then boot from cd with 1 stick in and nothing happens, my windows runs normally idk what im doing wrong.

Checksum is usually indicative of multiple BIOS changes, improper shutdown, or CMOS battery failure.

Might try changing the battery if ones available (they are pretty much universal) or set everything to 'default' or 'optimum' setting and then start again on your manual settings

Can you list your advanced timings for the RAM?

i am sure im not having all the freezing issue bacause of my battery. By timing you mean the 9-9-9-24? those are correct in my bios

also im having problems with memtest. I burn the iso file onto a cd. Then boot from cd with 1 stick in and nothing happens, my windows runs normally idk what im doing wrong.

Advanced would be separate set in your BIOS having tRFC, tRD, tRTP, tRRD, etc

As to memtest - could type out the particulars - but this page covers it pretty well, big thing is set the main boot device to your CD/DVD drive and what's here

well idk why its not working i unzip and burn the iso to a cd and changes bios to boot from cd but it just loads windows. So i tried also burning a .bin, and changed cmos to boot strictly from cd. It said disc boot failure for bot .iso and .bin file. I burned the cds using windows and just dragged the files to burn them.

I tested each stick one by one with windows memory diagnostic and it said they were fine but idk if that test is even good enough. Alright im gonna put all 6 sticks in and see what my advance timings are but everything is on auto because it was defaulted from previous try to change settings.

Okay so set to the xmp profile here are the advanced

I had the same problem as this, my G15 keyboard would still display system time and could switch between different profile options.. it turns out it had nothing to do with the memory.

download 3dmark vantage and run it, to see what happens. It could be your video card, maybe PSU as well?

Im just speaking from personal experience, not certified or anything of the sorts so try these things at your own risk. It helped me get an RMA setup for my vid card for the exact issue you are describing.

Gskill will have to make the RMA call...never know they might pop back in tonight, but my guess would be in the AM
