  • Doubt about Dual and Quad Channel

    Hi, this is the answer:

I have a asus x99 deluxe II mobo.

If buy a 2x8 Kit dual channel the ram works on dual channel (obviously XD)

but if later I buy and add to mobo another 2x8 kit (exactly the same kit) the ram will work on quad channel?

Or I will have a 2 independet 2x8 dual channels?

    thanks in advance

Distributing one module to a slot for each channel will enable quad channel. The user manual for your mainboard should have information on the recommended memory slots for quad channel with four and eight modules.

On another note even a second kit of the same model number might be using different ICs or, esp when produced in different years, even ICs of another density and therewith sub-timings. So it is usually recommended to just get a quad kit right away, to dodge possible incompatibilities between kits.
