  • KM780 MX Effect Lightning Not Working - Breathing, Wave

    Hi,

I am unable to get certain keyboard lighting effects to work on. Any ideas? Details below:

Do Not Work (LEDs either all off or all on, depending on previously select setting that worked)
    1. WAVE
    2. RIPPLE
    3. REACTIVE2

Work (as soon as selected and "OK" is chosen from dropdown, active on keyboard)
    1. LED ON
    2. BREATHING
    3. SNAKE
    4. RANDOM
    5. REACTIVE

    Notes:
    1. Brightness is max
    2. I have tried "save to device memory" for each setting (still nothing)

Software (SW) version and firmware (FW) version
    Software 0.85, Firmware 813

    2) Did this issue occur on a new software installation or software update?
Both, initial install (no ver, sorry) would not allow to press "update" nor use of the above. Fresh install (0.85) fixed clickable-update-button issue

    3) What is the model number of your keyboard and layout? (e.g. KM780 RGB, NA English; etc.)
    KM780 MX S/N 1xxxGKxxxxxxx

    4) Which Windows OS version are you using? (e.g. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; etc.)
    Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

    5) Which USB port did you plug the keyboard into? (e.g. USB3.0 in motherboard back panel, USB2.0 hub, etc.)
USB 3.0 Hub and ports on the shell

    6) Your motherboard model number
Sorry, no idea - can't find detail anywhere. Using ASUS ROG G751JY

    7) Any antivirus/anti-malware software programs you have installed
    McAfee All Access, Total Protection

    8) Any other keyboard/mouse/similar device software you have installed
    Logitech G300S mouse

    Hi steveb,

Firmware version, at the moment, should not be three digits. This is caused by an update error.

Please use the following instructions to reflash and reset the firmware for the KM780 MX keyboard.

The keyboard should function properly after doing the actions below. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Thank you.

    Download link: http://www.gskill.com/gskill-device/...M780_MX_26.zip

    ================================
    -------- INSTRUCTIONS ----------
    ================================

    1. Locate the small hole under the leg standoff on the upper left corner (underside of the MR key).
    2. Unplug the keyboard.
    3. Use a paper clip, or something similar, and insert into hole. You should feel a click or something pressed down.
    4. While it is being pressed, insert and connect both USB connectors. Keyboard will not function and LED will not light at this time.
    5. Go to My Computer, there should be a drive with 64KB size (Drive Name: "CRP DISABLD" or "CRP1 ENABLD").
    6. Delete the drive contents (should be a single file named "firmware.bin"), then copy the GSKILL_KM780_MX_V0018.bin file into the drive.
    7. Remove the paper clip, and reconnect the USB again.
    8. Once keyboard LED is lit up, confirm keyboard is functioning by pressing Windows key.
9a. Execute and run FWUpdate.exe from the "FWUpdate_KM780_MX_26" folder, with Administrator rights (right click on FWUpdate.exe and click "Run as Administrator"). Wait until update is complete.
9b. Alternatively, if the G.SKILL driver software is already installed, the paired firmware version can also be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\G.Skill\G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780 MX\FWUpdate
9c. If G.SKILL driver software is not installed, you may obtain the latest firmware version by downloading and installing the G.SKILL latest software driver from the G.SKILL website. (www.gskill.com/en/download)
