  • XMP profile with ASROCK Fatal1ty Z170 Professional Gaming i7

I have one set of F4-3400C16D-16GTZ 3400mhz, 16GB DDR4 on an ASROCK Fatal1ty Z170 Professional Gaming i7 motherboard. I am running the 1.6 bios which is the newest for this particular board. (I noticed there are newer bios options for other ASROCK mobos).

When I try to use the XMP profile it locks up and won't post. Any help is much appreciated.

What CPU do you have? Try a lower frequency like 3200 3000 to see if it can boot up properly.

i7-6700k. It will boot with both 3200 and 3000 but not 3400, even with a slight voltage bump to 1.36v and increasing VCCIO and System Agent (SA) each to 1.2v.

Did you disable all power saving features or fast boot options?

Yes, they are all disabled. For whatever reason I just can't hit 3400 with this pair.

            Might be a BIOS/motherboard limitation

Did you see if one module can reach 3400?
