Does the RIPJAWS KM780 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard work under Linux at all?

  • #2
Yes, but there is no software to configure.

The brightness button (above the F3 key) works in Linux even without software, right?

As an owner of a KM780, I can confirm it does. Using OpenSuse 42.1 right now.

A few things are built into the keyboard, like keyboard brightness (above F3 key), and media keys (if the signals are interpreted correctly in your OS), and on-the-fly (OTF) macro recording. So these items should be able to be used without software installed.

To clear a macro from a key without software, do the following:
          1. Press "MR" to begin OTF macro recording.
          2. Press a key to select that key for recording.
          3. Press the same key once for its original function.
          4. Press "MR" to complete the recording.

You're essentially programming the key with its original function.

There is a problem with that resetting mode: The key will NOT auto-repeat when keeping it pressed down.
